How to reduce your eye strain With Blue Light Blocking Glasses (4 tips)
Look away frequently
Eye fatigue occurs when you are in a single activity for a very long time without a break. Every 20 minutes you have to focus on something other than activity. Your focus should be 20 feet away and you should look at it for at least 20 seconds. This is known as the 20-20-20 rule.
You should not only look away every 20 minutes, but also move away from intense activity for a few hours during the day. If you need to work on a screen or go a long distance for a few hours, make sure you balance this activity with others that require you to use your eyes differently. For example, if you’ve spent the entire morning working on a computer, take a walk outside in the natural light during your lunch break.
Position Your Screen
Make sure you’re looking at your digital device from the right distance and in the right position. The screen should be a few feet away from your eyes or about an arm’s length. You should see the screen at eye level or slightly below. This also applies to hand-crafted digital devices: they need to be read below eye level.
Another useful tip for digital devices is to enlarge the text on the screen to best suit your comfort level. You can probably adjust the text size from your device’s settings.
Find the right light
Lighting can cause eye fatigue. Depending on the activity, it can be very dim or very bright. If you’re focusing heavily on something like reading, the light has to come after you. Turn off the lights can help reduce eye fatigue while watching TV.
Make sure the screens you’re viewing are also adequately lit. Adjust the brightness as needed. Glare can contribute to eye fatigue, so try shading windows or using filters to reduce glare on your digital device.
Multitask correctly
It is common to use printed material or other materials when working on a computer. For example, you may need to convert a form or notes to text. If you need to refer to documents and the like when using your computer, you should position them so that you don’t have to move your eyes, neck and head too often. The document stand helps you place material between your keyboard and monitor, reducing eye fatigue.
