How to Configure Amazon Alexa to Recognize Your Voice

Do you have more than one Echo user in your home? Does Alexa get confused when she talks to him? Here’s how to set up the Alexa audio profile so she can understand you better. Amazon’s Alexa can sometimes minter interpret your questions or commands. If you live in a home with other Amazon users, the voice assistant may also have trouble determining which user is talking. Luckily, there’s a solution.

You can train Alexa to get to know you better by creating an audio profile. After you create your profile, Alexa can call you by name and provide personalized results based on your voice. Alexa can even tell your voice from other people’s in the house. Anyone over the age of 13 can create an audio profile. Let’s see how you’re at.

Create a Voice Profile

Open the Alexa app on your mobile device. Tap the Plus icon in the toolbar at the bottom, then go to the Recognized Sounds Account Settings Settings. Here you will create an audio profile for yourself.

Alexa consequently connects this profile with the one associated with the Alexa application, so ensure the correct individual is associated. You can easily do this by going to Settings and confirming that your name is listed.

If you’ve already created such a profile and want to restart the process, under Recognized Sounds, tap Manage the audio profile. On the next screen, tap Delete the audio profile to create a new one. If not, tap Create an audio profile.

Train Alexa Your Voice

Teach Alexa your voice on the screen, press Continue. The next screen shows a sentence that you need to say in order for Alexa to capture your voice. Say the sentence, and Alexa automatically displays the next sentence. Keep going until you say all the sentences Alexa gave you. The app will let you know that your audio profile has been created. Press Done to continue.

Enable Voice Recognition

Return to the screen of recognized sounds. Turn on the Auto Voice Recognition switch to help Alexa recognize your voice. The app states that this option will allow Alexa to learn to get to know your voice better to deliver more personalized experiences.

Add More Voice Profiles

If you have other people in your home who want to create an audio profile with Alexa, they should do so through the Alexa app on their mobile device. Ask them to follow the steps you’ve taken to create their profiles.

If you’re sharing a mobile device, swipe down on the Settings screen and press Disconnect to exit the Alexa app. Then ask the other person to connect to the Amazon Alexa home screen and follow the audio profile steps.

Match Voice Profiles

If you have more than one person in your home using an Echo device, you can help Alexa get to know different sounds better. Return to the Recognized Sounds screen and tap Manage Audio Profile. On the Welcome screen, tap Match Audio Profiles.

Alexa will read a series of oral statements aloud. Your job is to associate every sentence with the voice of the right person. If you encounter an error indicating that no profiles match, you’ll need to wait until Alexa processes voice commands from different people in your home and try again later. If not, tap Start or begin.

Match Voices

On the next screen, tap the link that says Press to Play. Listen to the sentence and then press the name of the person who spoke. Tap Next in the upper-right corner to move on to the next sentence. Repeat to complete the match to the audio profiles. Press Next.

Use Alexa

You should now be able to ask Amazon Alexa to perform certain tasks without having to explain who you are. Ask Alexa to read your messages, send a message, call someone else, shop on Amazon, flash briefing or play music, and she’ll give you a personalized experience based on your audio profile.

Even if you go to someone else’s account, Alexa should be able to identify you by voice. If you want to make sure Alexa knows who you are, “Alexa, who am I?” Say. or “Alexa, what is this profile?”

For help or feedback on using audio profiles, return to the Recognized Sounds screen and tap Manage Audio Profile. On the next screen, tap the Read More link at the top.
