Denon’s new budget soundbar delivers Chromecast streaming and Hi-Res Audio

If you’re looking for a cheap audio bar that doesn’t compromise on connectivity. Denon’s latest model might be an attractive option. The price is £299 (about $380/AU$530) Denon DHT-S416 is the brand’s first built-in audio bar in Google Chromecast. And allows you to stream High-Resolution Audio over Wi-Fi from brands such as Amazon Music HD, Tidal, and Qobuz. as well as playing music from Spotify, YouTube Music and more.

Chromecast integration means you can control the audio bar only with your voice. That is, as long as you have a Google Assistant speaker to connect to.

In addition, you can group Denon DHT-S416 with other Chromecast-enabled devices to create a multi-room sound system. Such as the slightly more expensive Sonos Arc being grouped with other Sonos speakers.

Small but powerful

Ideal for smaller areas. The Denon DHT-S416 is only 2.2 inches long and should fit comfortably under most TVs – the area can also be mounted on the wall if it is really important.

Inside the Soundbar is a pair of 1.25 x 4.4-inch full-range oval drives and two 1-inch tweeters. Denon says the company will provide recognized “clear but rhythmic midrange and treble.”.

Bass heads are cover here; The soundbar comes with a wireless subwoofer with a 5.25-inch drive in an enclosure with the “bass to expand to exceptionally low levels”.

While you don’t get object-based immersive audio technologies like Dolby Atmos with this affordable soundbar. Denon says it can realistically simulate a multi-channel soundtrack played in a home theater surround sound system.

There are three different EQ presets to choose from – Motion, Music, and Night. Three Dialogue Booster modes that allow you to increase vocals from TV music. For those who purify the sound, there is also a Pure mode that survives virtual surround audio processing and allows you to hear the sound in its “purest form”.

The connection comes thanks to HDMI ARC; this means that you can control the DHT-S416 with your regular TV remote, but there is also an optical connection if you want. For wireless streaming, you can also connect it to your Wi-Fi network or your phone via Bluetooth.

I hope the new soundbar can experience the success of his brother DHT-S216. When it goes on sale later this month. At a price of £250/$220 (about 340 AU$), this DTS Virtual: X-powered bar didn’t come with all the features you can get from the best soundbars of 2020, but affected us with the return of money.

If you’re looking for something with a slightly higher featured. The incredible Sonos Arc comes to mind – then remember that the holiday shopping season will be coming soon.

I expect to see a large number of soundbar deals on Black Friday 2020 in November. And before that, we told that Amazon Prime Day would bring a series of discounts in October (until the exact date is approved).
